Focused on children and young people since 1959, today with a clear approach: do not lift individual children out, strengthen what surrounds them – school, family, community. The work runs through local partner organisations rather than its own country offices.

Bildungsarbeit Cato Manor · Durban, Südafrika
School support and safe spaces in one of Durban’s oldest townships – after-school care, tutoring and work with families.
Plan works worldwide with a focus few others hold as consistently: girls’ education. The reason is sober – no other lever changes a region’s health, income and child mortality as much as the number of years girls stay in school.

Schools, teacher training and safeguarding in one of Uganda’s largest refugee settlements – for children whose schooling would otherwise end with their flight.
A quarter of fourth-graders in Germany cannot read well enough. Stiftung Lesen starts before that point – with families, nurseries and primary schools, regardless of whether there are books at home. Educational fairness does not begin in secondary school.

Book gifts and guidance for families with one- to three-year-olds through paediatric practices and libraries – an attempt to reach children before the gap opens.
