Since the days of Bernhard Grzimek the ZGF has worked in some of the last great wilderness areas on earth – Serengeti, Peruvian Amazon, Carpathians. Not a campaigning group but an organisation with its own staff permanently on site, often for decades in the same protected area.

Nashornschutz Gonarezhou · Simbabwe
Building and protecting a black rhino population in Gonarezhou National Park together with the Zimbabwean parks authority – rangers, monitoring, and work with the villages on the park boundary.
Small, technical and awkward: Pro Wildlife works mainly where species protection is actually decided – CITES conferences, EU legislation, trade bans – and funds direct conservation projects alongside. A group that produces files rather than photographs.

Elefanten-Waisenhaus · Sambia
Raising and releasing orphaned elephants whose mothers were killed by poachers – with the aim of returning them to wild herds.
VIER PFOTEN works very visibly in direct animal welfare: bear sanctuaries, big cat refuges, rescues from circuses and private keeping. The organisation runs its own sanctuaries – expensive, permanent and not delegable.

What you should know
At 34.8 per cent, the share for advertising and administration is above the threshold at which the DZI awards its seal. We name it because it touches our own promise: if we claim that as much as possible arrives, we have to say where that holds less well.
We deliberately show no third-party logos here. Using a name or figurative mark requires written permission – we obtain it before we display one.
