Since 1989 OroVerde has worked to protect tropical forests – not by buying land, but through the people who live there. Forest protection only lasts when it earns local families a living. Alongside that comes education work in Germany and policy work on supply chains and deforestation.

Mangrovenschutz Golf von Fonseca · Honduras
Restoring and protecting the mangrove forests on the Honduran Pacific coast. Mangroves store several times the carbon of inland forest, break storm surges and act as the nursery for the fish stocks the coastal villages live on.
Bergwaldprojekt relies on hand work: volunteers spend a week in forests, bogs or on the coast – planting, rewetting, building fences. It is slow, and that is exactly why it is credible. Every week is documented, every site named.

Converting a spruce monoculture destroyed by drought and bark beetle into a species-rich mixed forest. A project you can visit and count for yourself – and a reminder that climate damage is not only happening elsewhere.
EuroNatur thinks about conservation in landscapes rather than national borders. The foundation works where European wilderness is still connected – and where it is being cut apart: Balkan rivers, old-growth forest, migratory bird routes.
